Day 23 of Countdown to Oliver: Finalize Plans and Appointments

Two are getting crossed-off the list today: Set up pediatrician visit/appointments and finalize plans with the OB. My OB and our pediatrician are in the same practice, plus I had an OB appointment today and Ella had her pediatrician appointment as well. So, it was perfect timing to finalize it all at once. The OB and I finalized my birth plan, and we also finalized plans with our pediatrician to visit Oliver in the hospital. Productiveness feels good.

However, there was a downside in all of today. I found out my OB will be out of town from June 12-30 … I’m due June 26 … Here’s to hoping Oliver is either 2 weeks early or 1 week late! Oh well, you can’t win them all. There are a couple other OBs in the practice I’ve grown to like, so either way, it all works out.

On the plus side, while finalizing my birth plan with my OB, I actually found out my hospital has already started incorporating prolonged cord clamping and immediate skin-to-skin for at least an hour–which they’ve termed “cuddle care.” Much more appealing than the term kangaroo care! I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised, and relieved.
